Black and White, Contrast
Leaving Yomitan III.
I was working in Okinawa and spent much time at the pottery village, known as Yomitan Village. The collection of these four pieces (Leaving Yomitan I., Leaving Yomitan II., Leaving Yomitan IV.) are my memory interpretation of being there. Every now and then, I would get lucky and see the artists working in their studio or near the Kiln, which was a community kiln built on the base of a hill and expanding upward. The firing process in the kiln was driven by a large fireplace at the bottom of the building, no electricity was used.
